About Me
Transitioning from academia to entrepreneurship, I now am one of the leaders of Focalise, where we leverage our innovative IP to drive solutions in AI and beyond. My journey from academia to entrepreneurship underscores my commitment to innovation and my belief in the transformative power of technology. At Focalise, we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible, with a primary focus on saving lives of missing people in wild environments.
My background is rooted in a dynamic career as a research fellow in Artificial Intelligence at the University of the West of Scotland. In my previous role, I played an instrumental part in various projects such as "NG-RPAS" and three EU Horizon 2020 projects, "5G-Induce", "INCODE" and "ARCADIAN-IoT." Additionally, I was involved in initiatives such as 5GPPP SELFNET, SmartCranes, and S-RPAS.
One of the most impactful projects I had the privilege to be a part of was the development of a "Smart Unmanned Aerial System for Real-Time Object Detection." This groundbreaking initiative aimed at utilizing AI-based object recognition drones to locate missing persons in wild environments. Our collaboration with key stakeholders such as Police Scotland, Thales, and CENSIS garnered significant worldwide media coverage and resulted in the prestigious recognition of two awards.
